Sony Delivers ‘GTA V’ For PS4, ‘Batman: Arkham Knight’ And ‘Uncharted 4’ In A Packed E3 Press Conference

Sony doesn’t quite have their back to the wall the way Microsoft and Nintendo do, but despite their leading position, their E3 2014 press conference was largely free of the ego and hubris the company has sometimes been guilty of.

Their message was simple — we’re have the best, most varied exclusives, and even non-exclusives will be best on our machine, and they mostly backed that up with an eclectic, impressive line-up of games.Hit the next pages for a recap of all the most important stuff that happened during Sony’s 2014 E3 Press Conference…

The Last of Us Remastered

Sony gave fans a first real glimpse of The Last Of Us Remastered and it’s looking good. Basically the game now actually looks as good as early bullshots of the PS3 version. The game’s coming surprisingly soon too — July 29th.

Warning, some spoilers ahead!

The Order: 1886

We got a new “gameplay” trailer (a lot of it was obviously scripted) that gave us a taste of the survival-horror side The Order: 1886.

How this will mesh with the Assassin’s Creed-esque gameplay we’ve already seen I don’t know. I’m still not entirely sure what to think of this game, but that werewolf/zombie hybrid thing certainly was creepy.

No Man’s Sky

Sony seems to be putting their full weight behind indie game No Man’s Sky, as they spent more time on it than pretty much any other game. Can’t blame them, as the game is certainly looking impressive. Basically, everyone starts on their own procedurally generated planet and you can eventually take to outer space and visit everybody else’s planets. Looks like pretty mind blowing stuff — hopefully it doesn’t end up as another Spore.

Grand Theft Auto V for Next-Gen

Do I really need to say anything?

Batman: Arkham Knight

Okay, I can’t stay silent on this one — holy crap. Holy crapping crappy sh-t. Batman: Arkham Knight is amazing. It looks like all of Batman: Akham City could fit into one block of this game. And then the Batmobile! And and, it turns into a tank! And Jesus, that’s one creepy version of the Scarecrow.

I…want…this…game…now.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

Ladies and gentlemen, our first glimpse of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. Okay, well, it’s still a teaser, but it’s a lot more substantial than the last teaser.

Wow, that’s one detailed Nathan Drake. Of course the final game probably won’t look quite that good, but if it does, well, I guess the era of legit photorealism is here.

All the Other Stuff…

PS3 games are finally coming to PS4 via Playstation Now. A beta version of the service arrives July 31st and will bring with it over 100 PS3 games including God of War: Ascension and Ultra Street Fighter IV.

LittleBigPlanet 3 is coming to PS4 this year. Basically it’s more LittleBigPlanet except now Sackboy is being joined by an adorable sackdog, sackbird and sack, uh, obese guy? Charming as f-ck, as usual.

– Sony is partnering with Activision big time for Destiny. You can play the game in beta form first on PS4 and the Sony version will have exclusive maps, weapons and all sorts of other stuff. There’s also going to be a very sexy PS4/Destiny bundle.

Bloodborne, a new violent, horror game from the creator of Dark Souls, Hidetaka Miyazaki is a PS4 exclusive.

Abzu is a new game from the makers of Journey and it is, of course, sleek, stylish and totally gorgeous.

– Sony delivered the first gameplay footage of Mortal Kombat X and it’s looking pleasingly goofy. When I was writing my list of things I want in a new Mortal Kombat I had no idea the thing I really wanted was a new bee-themed lady fighter.

Grim Fandango is being remastered for the PS4. I don’t get the opportunity/have the desire to say this often, but thank you Disney.

– The new trailer for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is a Metal Gear Solid trailer. Yup, it suuuure is.

Well, Brian Michael Bendis awkwardly talking about Powers aside, Sony has pretty much skunked Microsoft again. What do you guys think of Sony’s showing? Do you think Microsoft actually did better? Hit the comments and let the world know.
