Galaxy Getaways Wants To Send You To All The Exotic Locales From ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’

This viral ad for Galaxy Getaways  lends itself nicely to the marketing for Guardians of The Galaxy later this summer. In an age where the travel agent has been replaced by TV spokesman and silly advertising, Galaxy Getaways fits perfectly into the mold by not taking itself too seriously. From Empire:

Sprinkled among the descriptions of places such as Knowhere (carved into the long-dead skull of a massive, ancient creature) and Xandar, home to the Nova Corps (and Gluborg’s, the first restaurant in the galaxy to score five stars), are a wealth of in-jokes and little bits of information about the movie that will hopefully enhance rather than spoil the experience.

I think the best thing that Guardians of the Galaxy has going for it right now is the attitude. And I don’t mean some edgy, late 90s, free running over a shark type of attitude. It doesn’t seem to take itself too seriously and it wants to have fun. That’s going to be a help for an unknown quantity more than a handicap. I think endearing yourself to an audience before you even hit the theaters is a pretty good way to make some sort of dent in the box office.

Of course I could be wrong and this turns into the worst Marvel movie since Howard The Duck. Wouldn’t that be terribly depressing?
