‘Constantine’ Offers A Closer Look At Its Pilot

Constantine has been looking promising since we first got wind of it, especially with director Neil Marshall handling the pilot. And, since we’re a month out from its debut, NBC has kindly rolled out a first look.

It’s mostly what you’d expect; a few brief interviews with some of the high-level personnel and cast interspersed with clips from the pilot. It looks like there’s going to be no shortage of demons and fire in this particular take on the story, which is good, but it also appears to have quite a bit of dry humor, which is also good. Even if the business card joke falls a little flat.

That said, the real test appears to be what happens with episode two. The pilot is little more than a contractual obligation at this point; NBC had signed on to air the pilot even if they didn’t pick up the series, and it’s clear the series had a few changes between the pilot and actually shooting it. Still, it looks like Constantine is still kind of a jerk and still better at fighting demons than the demons themselves realize, so we’re interested, to say the least.
