This Is What It Looks Like When Gamers Speedrun Through Video Games To Raise Money For Cancer

Awesome Games Done Quick puts together a yearly marathon of people who speedrun through games to help various charities and causes. This year they dedicated their efforts to Prevent Cancer Foundation. The event is still going on right now, and if you have never seen a “professional” speedrun through a game, you owe it to yourself to go check it out as it is happening live this minute. Because not only is it incredibly entertaining to see someone blow through a three hour game in 20 minutes, it’s pretty damn cool to know they are nerding out to prevent cancer.

To get an example of just how cool what they do is (not Fonzie cool, but Duckie from Pretty in Pink cool), peep this speedrun through Super Mario without using any warp drives.

Being someone who sometimes still dies when encountering the first turtle in the first level of Mario, this impresses me to no end. Add “fighting cancer” to it and I bow down before these gamers, with one Mountain Dew in hand, extended as an offering.
