Lucius Fox is a fairly important character in the Batman books. He’s both Batman’s resident tech genius, as anybody who saw the movies knows, and he’s also the guy who keeps Wayne Enterprises running. And he’s about to get dropped right in the middle of the chaos that is Gotham.

Chris Chalk has landed the role, according to Deadline; you probably know him best as Tom Walker from Homeland, or Gary Cooper from The Newsroom. Mostly, though, it’s interesting for what it implies. As a reminder, somebody in Wayne Industries is responsible for murdering the Waynes, and they’re engaged in such a level of skullduggery they recently hired a close friend of Alfred’s to see just how far Bruce Wayne, Kid Executive, has figured out their vague but likely incredibly evil plans. And also to stab Alfred, which seems excessive, but we’re sure antagonizing the future Batman won’t go horribly wrong for them.

Generally, Lucius Fox shows up to clean house, so the fact that he’ll be popping up during sweeps can be seen as a hint that Bruce manages to break off a few feet in a few asses. Hey, maybe he’ll even solve the mystery of what Fish’s plotline has to do with the rest of the show!
