Hiro Will Be Back For The ‘Heroes: Reborn’ Miniseries

Just in case you’d already erased it from your memory, NBC is bringing back Heroes for a 13-episode miniseries this fall. Titled Heroes: Reborn, the venture features the return of Jack Bennett (Jack Coleman), the man with the horn-rimmed glasses, and newcomer Zachary Levi. A host of new cast members has since been announced, but it looks like another familiar face will join the crowd — albeit in a limited capacity.

Japanese-American actor Masi Oka, who played fan-favorite Hiro Nakamura, will guest star as the powerful space-time traveler:

“I’m excited to return to my ‘Heroes’ roots,” said Oka, who was nominated for both an Emmy and a Golden Globe for his role. “Hiro Nakamura was such an inspirational role to play, and I’m hoping the fans will enjoy seeing him back on TV.” (Via Variety)

Oka’s participation in the forthcoming miniseries is a welcome bit of news for fans, but those behind Heroes: Reborn are just as excited:

“We are thrilled to have Masi back in the ‘Heroes’ family,” said Kring. “The character of Hiro Nakamura was such a huge part of the first series’ success, and a gigantic fan favorite. We felt the fans would really love seeing him back in action again.” (Via Variety)

Whether or not NBC’s foray into television’s “revival” trend pays off remains to be seen. However, if they were to somehow bring George Takei back as Hiro’s father, I’d be there in a heartbeat.
