One of the big surprises from Wednesday’s Nintendo direct was that the company would be bringing 200cc races to Mario Kart 8 for free. Until now, 150cc is as fast as Mario Kart has gone, and the jump from 150 to 200cc looks to be a big one. Suddenly, Mario and buddies are blasting around the tracks like they’re in an F-Zero game or something.
To illustrate just how much faster 200cc is, Nintendo has released a comparison video. On the left, we see the track being tackled at the already pretty speedy 150cc, and on the right, we see 200cc. In the video, the player manages to get through a lap-and-a-half at 200cc in the same time they did just one lap in 150cc. This is going to be chaos. The latest Mario Kart 8 DLC pack will be out on April 23.
