Jesse Eisenberg Wanted To Wear A Helmet After Shaving His Head To Play Lex Luthor In ‘Batman V Superman’

Despite his obvious talent and his solid resume, Jesse Eisenberg’s selection as Lex Luthor definitely struck some people as odd. But even if you’re an Eisenberg detractor, you have to admit that seeing him in his chrome domed splendor as Luthor two weeks ago made it all feel very real because he got the look down. But as you can see in the above clip from Eisenberg’s recent conversation with Seth Meyers, getting that look required the actor to feel a bit vulnerable while filming.

Here’s an excerpt:

“It’s freezing and it’s really strange. It’s the kind of thing where you feel like, I can really damage myself, you want to wear a helmet.”

Or a wig, or a floral bandanna.

Comic fans will note that Lex Luthor doesn’t don a helmet, even when he’s in his battle armor (though there is a force field protecting his head). So, if Eisenberg did or ever does get into some serious combat scenes in the cinematic DCU, you can bet that he’ll be inwardly shrieking as fists fly dangerously close to his curl padded head.
