The Tomorrowland trailers we’ve seen so far have tried pretty hard to cop a mysterious vibe. There’s another world called Tomorrowland that you get to with special pins, George Clooney is somehow involved, and that’s really all we know so far.
Well, the latest international trailer out of Japan (which was leaked earlier, but has now officially gone up) spells things out a bit more clearly. It turns out that Disneyland is just a cover for a futuristic Utopian society, and Clooney was somebody who accidentally stumbled on it as a kid. The trailer might hold even more details, but I don’t understand Japanese.
You can kind of see why they glossed over some of these details in the American trailers. The premise that Walt Disney was head of a secret society of geniuses is maybe a little self-congratulatory, but what the hell, the movie still looks fun. Tomorrowland arrives May 22.
