Ubisoft Officially Unveils The Top Hat And Grappling Hook Packed ‘Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate’

Late last week it was leaked that the next game in the Assassin’s Creed franchise would be called Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate and would take place in Victorian London. Well, Ubisoft has now officially unveiled the game, confirming those details and a whole lot more.

Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate is set in London in 1868 (no, not 1886). The game will star brother-sister combo Jacob and Evie Frye, and it looks like the co-op focus of Assassin’s Creed: Unity has been taken out back and stabbed in the neck. The game will de-emphasize stealth somewhat in favor of more combat, which Ubisoft promises will be faster and more fluid. You’ll also be able to get around town with grappling hooks and on the back of trains and carriages. Basically, it looks like a serious dollop of Rocksteady’s Batman games has been dropped into Assassin’s Creed formula.

You can check out the game’s debut trailer above. Below you can check out a gameplay walkthrough and a separate trailer specifically for Jacob Frye…

It’s nice to see that Ubisoft apparently learned some lessons from the Assassin’s Creed: Unity debacle. I’ve had no interest in the last couple Assassin’s Creed games, but I’ll admit I’m into the idea of busting heads and stabbing necks in jolly ol’ England.
