The ‘Legend Of Zelda’ Live-Action TV Series May Still Be Alive

Back in February, we reported that a live-action Legend of Zelda TV series was in the works at Netflix. Nintendo proceeded to crush our dreams by denying it. Well… sort of!

Here’s what Nintendo’s CEO Satoru Iwata actually said:

“As of now, I have nothing new to share with you in regard to the use of our IPs for any TV shows or films, but I can at least confirm that the article in question is not based on correct information,” says Iwata.

Which leaves a little wiggle room. I bring this up because Season Zero is now claiming The Legend of Zelda is filming a pilot for Amazon Instant Video in a bid to give them a kind of family-friendly Game of Thrones… so Link won’t be whipping out the ol’ Dodongo. Not only that, but we will see this pilot early next year, according to Season Zero.

Supposedly, the pilot will be shot in New York and in Savannah, Georgia, which is probably standing in for the Water Temple. If this is coming together, it’ll be interesting to see how it’s interpreted and how the notoriously protective Nintendo treats the series. Is Link just going to pull a Brother From Another Planet and not speak at all?
