Will Oscorp Make An Appearance In ‘Ant-Man’?

Marvel is having a helluva time figuring out which scrawny white kid will be the next Spider-Man. While recent auditions in Atlanta have at least moved the decision-making closer to the Captain America: Civil War set, there’s been no word on whether or not a decision has been — or ever will be — made.

No worries though, because according to Latino-Review, we’ll be hearing from the wall-crawler’s universe as soon as July 17. Why? Because Ant-Man will contain a Winter Solder-style quick reference (i.e. Agent Sitwell’s “Stephen Strange” namedrop) to a rather notorious organization during a particular scene:

We’ve heard an unconfirmed rumor there is “lots of” talk of/references to Spider-Man and OsCorp in the current version of Ant-Man.

What would all this “talk” include, and where in the film would it pop up?

Corey Stoll’s villainous businessman Darren Cross is attempting to sell the Ant-Man/Yellowjacket weapons technology to other corporations and organizations. The Ten Rings from Iron Man and Roxxon, a Marvel Comics corporation that has been name-dropped in all 3 Iron Man movies, Agents of SHIELD, Agent Carter, Daredevil and a Marvel One Shot. This scene would be an excellent opportunity to introduce OsCorp into MCU.

That it would, and as Latino-Review points out, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is rife with examples of continual references and name-drops for organizations and characters deep within the canon. (At least, the portions still owned and licensed by Marvel Studios.)

By the time Marvel’s deal with Sony was announced, filming for Ant-Man had already wrapped. If such a reference does exist in the final cut, it’ll likely be the result of reshoots, ADR, or both. Hell, knowing the studio’s penchant for planning, director Peyton Reed (under producer Kevin Feige’s strict guidance, of course) probably shot “alternative takes” of certain scenes using different sets of dialogue.

No wonder Edgar Wright was unhappy with the studio’s handling of he and Joe Cornish’s script.
