‘Total War: Warhammer’ Looks Like A Playable Peter Jackson Battle Scene In This First Footage

At this year’s E3, it was announced that the venerable Total War strategy series will cross over with the Warhammer role-playing universe. The Total War series has traditionally been pretty grounded, only dealing with real-life historical conflicts and factions, so it was kind of hard to imagine what a fantasy Total War game would look and play like.

Well, now we know, as Sega and developers Creative Assembly have taken the wraps off Total War: Warhammer with a new video demo. The video explains all sorts of important stuff, like how flying units and magic spells work, and some of the differences between the game’s various ugly-as-sin races and monsters. We even get a cameo from the orc god Gork, who unleashes stompy chaos on the battlefield. Really, the only thing missing is the is the Requiem for a Dream song playing in the background.

I definitely did some serious tinkering with the Total War games back in the day, but I haven’t touched one in quite a while. That might change, though, as the ability to stage Peter Jackson-esque fantasy battles definitely peaks my interest. What about you? Any interest in embarking on the Total War: Warhammer campaign?
