The Guardians of the Galaxy were almost inevitably getting a cartoon after their movie was such a massive hit. The only question was whether it was going to be more Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes or Super Hero Squad. Thankfully, these clips explaining Groot’s origin are the latter.
In case you were wondering, this is based on the Groot from the movie, not the Groot of the comics, even though Marvel insists the cartoon and the movie have nothing to do with one another. Which is kind of a shame, as it does more to make Ronan look like a bad guy than the actual movie:
Marvel is recounting the origins of each member of the team to promote the series: Star-Lord’s is also currently up. As for the series itself, you’ll be able to check it out September 26.
