Let’s Liveblog Tuesday’s Geeky TV: ‘Agents Of SHIELD’ Returns With Superheroes

I may not be liveblogging that often on Tuesday nights. But hey, I can’t miss this, as Agents of SHIELD returns and gives us, after two seasons, what we’ve really wanted all along.

A quick recap of the last season: Skye (Chole Bennett) turned out to be Daisy, an Inhuman fathered by Kyle Maclachlan playing creepy as only he can, and a mother running a haven for Inhumans in China. Her mother turned out to be completely nuts, nearly starting a war with the human race before Daisy used her newly-discovered quake powers to chuck dear old Mommy off a boat… along with a buttload of Terrigen crystals.

It also turned out there were two SHIELDs, the one the show followed and another one which didn’t trust Coulson (Clark Gregg) because… well, because of the events of the last two seasons of the show, really. Refreshingly, they were presented as having a point and being fairly reasonable. We also got to meet Mockingbird (Adrianne Palicki) and Mack (Henry Simmons), who saved humanity with an axe, and Coulson by chopping off his hand with said axe after he was “infected” with Terrigen.

Oh, also there was a mysterious artifact that ate crack team scientist Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge). That capped off the second season!

Meanwhile, nobody at SHIELD thought to clean up the chemical weapon dumped in the ocean, so this season will center around Inhumans being activated and wrecking shop, as you can see above. Also, Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), the traitor of season one, is trying to get HYDRA back up and running, which we’re sure will complicate things.

In other words, we get to see superheroes, all the time, every episode, finally. Let’s see how it plays out at 9 p.m. EST. Join us, won’t you?
