Five Nights At Freddy’s Is Getting A Non-Horror RPG For All Us Scaredy-Cats Out There

If you’ve avoided Five Nights at Freddy’s 1-4 because the games are just a little too scary (actually, they’re a lot too scary), there’s some good news coming your way. The next game in the series will not follow the traditional format of monsters jumping out at you to give you a heart attack, but will instead be an RPG that you can play with your whole family. (Provided your family is over 18 and likes games about creepy animatronics.)

PC Gamer reports that aside from dropping on the PC, the game will also be coming to iOS and Android. And from the sound of it, it’s shaping up to be a pretty cool title:

“It will not be a horror game,”  Scott Cawthon [the game’s creator] wrote, “but a roleplaying game where you create a party using the huge selection of characters from the FNaF games, including the classic, withered, toy, phantom, and nightmare versions. I’ve been working steadily on characters and hope to start on enemy models next week.”

The only problem? A game like this might take a long time to develop. Fans might have gotten a little spoiled with how fast previous installments were released, but they’re going to have to hunker down and wait a little bit for this one. According to Cawthon, he’d hoped to get the game up by Halloween, but that’s not going to happen. What will happen, though, is a playable demo that will release as soon as it’s finished.

If you’re already a fan of the games, you’ll also be pleased that a movie is in the works. So much for the fourth game being the last in the series. May it live forever!
