The Non-Giant Version Of The New Nintendo 3DS Is Finally Coming To North America

Late last year, Nintendo a released new, revamped version of their 3DS, appropriately named the New Nintendo 3DS. The New 3DS had more stable stereoscopic 3D, built NFC capabilities, a bit more horsepower and, in Japan and Europe at least, it came in two different models, the regular New 3DS and the New 3DS XL.

In North America we only got the XL version, which upset some gamers, because the smaller, standard version of the New 3DS featured a more stylish design and changeable face plates and, well, some of us actually like our portable gaming systems to be portable. Nintendo of America had remained tight-lipped as to whether the regular-sized New 3DS would ever come Stateside for months, but thankfully they’ve finally broken their silence and announced the New Nintendo 3DS will be released in North America on Sept. 25.

Thus far, the only announced way to get the standard-sized New 3DS will be as part of a bundle with Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer for $220. Nintendo will almost certainly offer a standalone option for those not into Animal Crossing, but they’re not publicizing that. There’s also no news on how Nintendo will be selling face plates for the system.

So, anybody interested itching to grab themselves a New 3DS now that a slicker, less-bulky option is available? Honestly, I don’t have the time for a lot of handheld games any more, but dammit, it looks so nice.
