Let’s Liveblog Wednesday’s Geeky TV: ‘Arrow’ Will Fail Fewer Omelettes

Arrow had a fourth season premiere that had something of a… let’s be diplomatic and call it a “varied” reception. I actually found it to be an interesting premiere: The show announced early on that Ollie’s not the only hero in the room on his own show, and I found his grouchiness about having to put the hood on again oddly endearing. Awwww, you really thought you were done, Ollie? Come on, this is the CW and you’re in season four. You’ve got at least another three years.

That said, yes, “You have failed this omlette” was very bit as terrible as fans insisted. And the flash forward to the grave was cheesy, especially since it’s unclear who will actually be in that grave. The usual rule applies: If it’s Felicity, we riot.

That said, I’ll be curious to see how they handle Damien Darhk, the explicitly supernatural wizard that will be the big bad this season, and more or less an announcement, along with the super buddies taking the lead action scene, that the show will be more explicitly comic book-esque and less “grounded” in its approach. Maybe they need to call in some professional help for dealing with wizards.

Either way, I’ve spent three seasons watching this show… so why stop now? The shenanigans begin tonight at 8 p.m. EST. Join us, won’t you?

(And feel free to read our interview with Arrow’s co-showrunner Wendy Mericle before tonight’s episode.)
