The PC Version Of ‘Batman: Arkham Knight’ Has Returned To Steam, And Somehow It’s Still Broken

Batman: Arkham Knight was a damn good time if you happened to buy it on either PS4 or Xbox One. Unfortunately, if you bought it on PC, you got a completely broken version of the game, ineptly ported by a team used to working on small-scale mobile titles. Warner Bros. Interactive quickly made the very rare decision to pull the PC version of Arkham Knight from sale, and in September, they released a hefty patch that fixed some of the game’s problems, but still left a long list of stuff in disarray.

Well, a little more than four months after Warner Bros. put the PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight on ice, the game has returned to Steam, and guess what? It’s still broken. Players continue to report that the title is causing GPU issues, and that they need ridiculous amounts of RAM to make the game run smoothly. The tech experts at Digital Foundry have dug into the new version of the game, and have found it’s basically identical to the post-patch version that’s been around since early September. The only addition? Hooks for DLC and season pass content have been added. Yeah.

At this point, I think it’s time for Warner Bros. to just issue a mea culpa, hand out some gift cards to the poor saps who bought the PC version of Arkham Knight at launch and walk away. The longer this thing goes on, the worse they tarnish a series that used to have a pretty spotless reputation. I know Batman never gives up, but sometimes in the real world, you have to.
