Let’s Liveblog Tonight’s Geeky TV: ‘The Flash’ Tries To Figure Out Being A Hero

Following a highly successful first season, The Flash looks like it will return with less of a bang and more of a whimper in tonight’s season-two premiere on The CW. After all, Bary Allen (Grant Gustin) did defeat Reverse-Flash (Tom Cavanagh) in last year’s penultimate episode, but his actions in the season finale cost the team (and the world) a great deal more — more than any of them can possibly realize.

Cause for celebration, no? The first part maybe, but in “The Man Who Saved Central City” Allen decides to distance himself from his friends and allies in order to better protect them and Central City. A little dose of self-imposed social alienation never hurt anyone all that much.

Sounds like a typical dose of CW-induced millennial angst. Then again, considering that the Atom Smasher (Adam Copeland) and Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) are both set to make an appearance, tonight’s episode will include more than the usual amount of deep moments.

The second season premiere of The Flash airs on The CW at 8 p.m. ET. Make sure to let us all know what you think in the comments below.
