A Teenage Superman Will Finally Appear On An Episode Of ‘Supergirl’ In Early 2016

Supergirl has kind of an odd relationship with her cousin on her CBS TV show. Obviously Superman is an important part of the Supergirl mythology, and yet the show constantly dances around his existence, with Kara only ever referring to him as “her cousin” or something similar. We’ve seen brief, shadowy glimpses of Supes, but we’ve never been given a real look at his face. There are complicated ownership rights surrounding Superman, so Clark Kent being a non-factor is understandable, but the way the show constantly makes thinly-veiled references to the guy without actually showing him isn’t terribly satisfying.

Well, that’s about to change. Sort of. According to TV Line, CBS is looking for a young actor with “future leading man looks” to play a 13-year-old version of Clark Kent. This youngster will be featured in flashbacks that will establish the bond between Kal-el and Kara. Seems kind of late for that, but I guess CBS wanted to establish Kara before they got the Big Blue Cheese involved.

Young Clark Kent will first be introduced in Supergirl‘s 13th episode, which will air early in 2016. The flashbacks will apparently be a regular thing, with Clark popping back up regularly throughout the rest of the season. What do you think? Glad to see Clark show up, or should the focus have remained strictly on Kara?
