Actors Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo have already spoken about their upcoming turns as Thor and the Hulk/Dr. Bruce Banner respectively in Thor: Ragnarok. The former thinks the third Thor film should be more like Guardians of the Galaxy, whereas the latter wants to see his character’s warring personalities split from one another. Whatever happens, the two are sure to butt heads at some point in the film.

When they do, Hemsworth told the New York Daily News he hopes his character can match the great, green beast from Midgard. After all, Thor’s name is literally in the title.

“I’d like to think I let him win last time [in The Avengers]”, said Hemsworth. “But because this movie is called Thor, I have to win this time.”

In addition to his desired outcome for Thor and Hulk’s inevitable fight, Hemsworth also spoke at length about what kind of movie he would like Thor: Ragnarok to be. Again, more like Guardians and less like Thor: The Dark World.

“I hope it’s a Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid sort of story,” he says, referring to the 1969 buddy western that starred Paul Newman and Robert Redford. “That would be fun. I love Mark. I think those two characters haven’t spent a whole lot of time talking to each other on screen (so far in the Marvel movies) , so it’s something new, I think it would bring something different out of the characters.

“It’s hard to have a conversation with the Hulk.”

Considering that the Hulk’s only spoken words since Avengers have been “puny” and “god,” Hemsworth knows what he’s talking about. As for the Butch Cassidy reference, it serves as a nice throwback to when Ruffalo called the film a “buddy picture” in conversation with the NY Daily News in October.

Comparisons to Lethal WeaponRush Hour48 Hrs. and every other buddy picture ever produced in the Western hemisphere are coming.
