The Second Season Of ‘Agent Carter’ Will Feature A Connection To ‘Doctor Strange’

The first season of Agent Carter remained fairly grounded in its little retro corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it seems as though season two might get a little more out there. According to Agent Carter showrunners Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters, Peggy will be heading to Los Angeles in the second season to investigate a mysterious company called Isodyne Energy. In the process, she’ll take on classic Iron Man villain Madame Masque and stumble across the Darkforce, an extra-dimensional energy source that powers a lot of things in the Marvel universe — including Doctor Strange himself.

“You’ll learn [Isodyne] were involved in the nuclear testing out in the desert, and one of these tests didn’t go as expected. You’ll learn more about that in Season 2, but they stumble upon what people in the Marvel Universe will know as Darkforce, but because they’ve never seen it before they just name it Zero Matter. That’s our tie-in to the ‘Doctor Strange’ universe, and also to ‘SHIELD’ because you’ve seen it in ‘SHIELD’ as well.”

It won’t be a full crossover, per se, but at least it’s something. Though somebody at Marvel headquarters better be working on a way to get Hayley Atwell and Benedict Cumberbatch on screen at the same time. Oh, and while we’re on the subject, you can check out a fun new clip of Peggy breaking into Isodyne Energy above.

The second season of Agent Carter debuts on Tuesday, Jan. 19 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
