Joseph Gordon-Levitt And Paul Rudd are Marvel and director Edgar Wright's top picks to play Ant-Man

Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man movie is really happening, and, despite Simon Pegg’s impeccable pointing skills, he’s not playing Hank Pym. Variety says Paul Rudd and Joseph Gordon-Levitt are Marvel’s top picks to play Ant-Man.

It sounds like Marvel is looking for someone adept at cracking wise and not absurdly muscular to play Ant-Man. The movie’s release date was brought forward to July 31st, 2015, to include it in an already busy summer schedule, so Wright will have to start casting soon. How awesome is it that Edgar Wright of Spaced, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, etc. is being handed the reins to a big summer movie?

Variety also says Marvel and Wright will meet with both actors one more time before making a decision, although they hedge their claim by adding, “there’s still a remote possibility another actor could emerge”. We can all guess how Paul Rudd and Joseph Gordon-Levitt would react to that scenario.
