One of the most well written comics out of DC in the early ’90s was “The Demon”, featuring Hell’s own odd couple, smartass occultist Jason Blood and rhyming demon Etrigan. Created by Jack Kirby, Etrigan’s been pretty popular as a supporting character, but he hasn’t quite been able to carry his own series since his ’90s one got cancelled. John Bryne was allowed near the character about five years ago and managed to screw it up big time; apparently when you’re John Bryne, you’re allowed to ignore little things, like the character’s dialogue always rhyming.
Anyway, it looks like DC might be taking another shot, according to Twitter. Specifically Scott Ian’s Twitter. Scott Ian, of course, is best known for his work on VH1 and also for being in some metal band called Anthrax.
Ian’s already taken on DC’s most metal character, Lobo, so it’ll be interesting to see how this works out. Just remember to make the dialogue rhyme, Ian.
