Arnold Schwarzenegger Going From Terminator To Exterminator For ‘The Toxic Avenger’ Remake?

Three years ago, we heard the director of Hot Tub Time Machine (Steve Pink) would be directing and co-writing a remake of Troma’s 1984 cult classic The Toxic Avenger. Now Variety reports that Arnold Schwarzenegger is in negotiations to star. Since the lead in The Toxic Avenger was a weak teenager who becomes a deformed hero with superhuman strength after exposure to toxic waste, how would Arnold Schwarzenegger figure into this?

In a cheeky nod to his “Terminator days,” Schwarzenegger will play “The Exterminator,” a former black ops agent who trains the protagonist to use his powers for good. Together they take on the lurking menace created by the polluters, as well the polluters themselves. [The Wrap]

So the bulked-up dude with a face that looks kind of melted is going to mentor the bulked-up dude with a face that looks kind of melted? Sensible. But I’d still rather watch 90 minutes of Will Sasso’s imitation of Arnold Schwarzenegger driving.
