Michael Fassbender’s ‘Assassin’s Creed’ Movie Will Affect The Plot Of Future Games

It’s easy for gamers to forget that Assassin’s Creed is this huge sprawling franchise that video games are just a small part of. There are also comic books, novels, animes, and, of course, Michael Fassbender making a movie and gifting us with even more hidden blade jokes. And, according to Ubisoft, they’re all interconnected.

That’s straight from the horse’s mouth, in a tweet dug up by Bleeding Cool:

This does raise a few questions, of course, and torpedo a few rumors. First of all, it looks like Fassbender’s “Callum Lynch” isn’t just a cover for his playing Desmond, and we really will be going back to another historical era entirely. It also appears that it will tie in, at least somewhere, with the mythology of the rest of the series. Considering we don’t yet know who will be having their memories raided by Abstergo for that Victorian-era game, that might be our hook. Heck, for all we know, it’ll be Fassbender himself showing up in the game to go into the Animus.

Either way, it’ll be fun to see how it all ties together. Especially because Aguilar, the ancestor Fassbinder remembers, hasn’t had an era picked out for him yet.
