‘Batman: Arkham Origins’ Debuts A New Assassin: Copperhead

Hey, remember Copperhead? You’ll be forgiven if not: He’s a fairly minor Batman villain mostly notable for being of the “killing you with contortion” school of comic-book violence. You’ll also be forgiven for being confused about that explanation since in Batman: Arkham Origins, we have a new, female Copperhead.

This isn’t a retcon, either. One of the first things that come up in this trailer is that previous users of the alias have been male, and supposedly she’ll be turning up in the New 52 as well:

So, basically her gimmick is that she fights with her legs a lot, and is really acrobatic. Eh, it’s cheesy, but this cutscene demonstrates that it’s pretty well-animated, so we’ll let it pass. Although she’s got tough feet to be going barefoot in Gotham on Christmas Eve, even if she is part snake.

Just as interesting is Batman’s attitude in this clip. Remember, this is Batman early on in his career, and apparently he’s going more for the “Dirty Harry In A Mask” vibe than “Ninja From Hell” vibe. Keep in mind, there are 24 ribs in a human rib-cage… so Batman, in this trailer, has broken fifteen of them on that thug. Dude… Bats… chill.

So that’s four out of eight: Deathstroke, Deadshot, Bane, and Copperhead. There’s still time to include Flamingo, guys, just saying.
