‘Batman V Superman’ Will Have A Very Different, Very Angry Batman, According To Ben Affleck

The great thing about Batman is that he can be anything. Grim vigilante, cheerful detective, and anywhere in between: Batman’s been all of them. Ben Affleck’s version, though, appears to be leaning towards the “dissipated billionaire” end of things.

The Hollywood Reporter has an item revealing that Affleck, speaking to Studio Cine Live, has revealed some details about his Bruce — and he’s kind of a mess!

He courts many women, owns many cars, and parties a lot. He does that as a way to fill the void in his soul. Moreover, past incarnations dealt with a straightforward search for justice. This time, Batman’s reasoning is clouded by frustration, bitterness and anger.

Which does raise the question of why this is a more unhealthy way of dealing with your parents’ murder than dressing up like a flying mammal and punching muggers, but hey, the rich aren’t like us. It also sounds like this take on Batman steps away from the cool, calm superninja of previous outings, which will be a nice change of pace. Batman inherently doesn’t have healthy reactions to anything; this is a guy who keeps dirt files on all his friends and builds superweapons to bump them off in case they become evil. Seeing a Batman who enjoys his wastrel billionaire side a little too much should be fun, especially if that Aston Martin turns out to be a gadget-packed Batmobile he stole from MI-6.
