The Acclaimed ‘BioShock’ Series Is Returning With A New Remastered Collection

BioShock and its sequels were easily some of the most acclaimed games of the past console generation. Now, after many hints and rumors, 2K Games has officially announced all the games from the series are returning in a new package for current-gen machines.

BioShock: The Collection will include BioShock, BioShock 2 and BioShock Infinite, all the DLC for each, and a new video series called Imagining BioShock with series-creator Ken Levine. In addition to all that, 2K is promising to make the games “look better than ever,” although they haven’t specified exactly what that might mean. Presumably resolution and frame rate will be boosted and textures will be touched up, but the games look more-or-less like they always have in the debut trailer above.

BioShock: The Collection won’t be created by original series developer Irrational Games since they don’t exist anymore. Instead, the collection will be handled by Blind Squirrel Games, a studio that’s worked in various supporting roles on games like BioShock Infinite, Evolve, Sunset Overdrive and Disney Infinity. Sometimes these remastered collections, like the recently announced Batman: Return to Arkham, run into trouble, so hopefully Blind Squirrel can pull this off.

BioShock: The Collection hits PC, Xbox One and PS4, September 15.
