Browncoat? Not In Wisconsin Colleges You’re Not!

James Miller, a theater professor at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, had done what a lot of us have, at some point in our lives: stumbled over Firefly and went on an epic episode binge, watching the whole series. He became, as many do, a huge fan. He hung, as many do, a poster of Mal Reynolds on his door.

Then he discovered just how idiotic campus rent-a-cops can actually be.

Campus police saw Miller’s poster, decided it was threatening because it had the word “kill” in it, and ripped it down. Miller objected, and also posted an anti-fascism flyer showing a cop clubbing a man. Showing that they have no understanding of the concept of irony, the rent-a-cops took that down too.

Needless to say, once this got out to the free speech advocates, the lawyers, and, oh yeah, the Browncoats, it was all over: the school got buried under hate mail, everybody from the ACLU to Nathan Fillion himself weighed in, and now the school is backpedalling just as fast as they can.

Hell, yeah! Can’t stop the signal! Well, unless you’re Universal.
