‘Call Of Duty: Black Ops III’ Has A Hidden ‘Dead Ops’ Sequel

Call of Duty: Black Ops III is basically a big bundle of games. There’s the campaign, there’s the multiplayer, there’s the zombies mode, there’s the parkour races… and if that weren’t enough, they’re throwing in a retro-styled arcade game you can find and play inside the game.

As hardcore fans have likely already guessed, it’s a sequel to twin-stick shooter Dead Ops, called Dead Ops 2: Cyber’s Revengening. As you may have gathered from the title, there’s just a little bit of satire of the excess machismo and general meatheadedness of late ’80s and early ’90s arcade games. That said, it did have a lot of love for a throwaway gag: There’s a detailed map, dozens of rounds, a leveling system, the whole nine yards. And because you’ll need to beat it to pop a trophy, at least Treyarch made it fun.

Although, at this point, you’ve got to wonder what else they can stuff into the game, which already seems jam-packed with four different game modes, most of which have leaderboards for the obsessive types to top. Credit where it’s due, war may never change for Call of Duty, but they sure put a lot of trimmings on this game.
