The Russo Brothers Let A Big Reveal Slip While Talking About ‘Avengers: Infinity War’

Spoilers ahead…

Captain America: Civil War directors Joe and Anthony Russo recently revealed to Uproxx’s Mike Ryan that Avengers: Infinity War parts one and two will be given new titles (and the second part of that interview — where they discuss the DC expanded universe, Isaac Perlmutter, and the “Lonely Thanos” Twitter account — is here).

Now they’ve revealed more about Infinity War, although this time it seems to have been accidental. During a fan Q&A at the Smithsonian Institute, they mentioned Captain Marvel while discussing Infinity War, which prompted a fan to ask, “Did you just confirm Captain Marvel?”

“Um… Captain Barvel. Totally different character,” one of the brothers joked, according to Comic Book. Good save. That was a close one.

We already know it’s supposed to be the Carol Danvers version of Captain Marvel, and she nearly had a cameo at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron, which was scrapped for good reasons: They wanted to give her a better entrance and more screen time. They also need to cast somebody soon; we’ve heard casting speculation about Emily Blunt, Charlize Theron, Ronda Rousey, Bryce Dallas Howard and Rebecca Ferguson so far, but nothing’s official.

It sounds like they’re finally going to get around to casting Danvers and giving her the big entrance, as several fans in attendance also heard what Comic Book heard:

During the Q&A, they also lent their support (again) to a Black Widow solo movie, but it’s not their call:

But it sounds like the most interesting conversation might have been happening in the ladies’ restroom.

Kids. They grow up and become bloggers so fast.
