We’ve talked extensively about “Arrow”, so let’s take a moment to look at the CW’s other upcoming genre show: their reboot of “Beauty and the Beast.”
You might remember the eighties original starred Sarah Connor as a DA and Hellboy as a noble lion-faced dude living under New York City in a society populated entirely by that guy who is way too into renaissance faires. It was somewhat cheesy.
This version, however, forgoes the soft ’80s lighting, Rick Baker makeup, and the fairy tale aspects for the far more gritty and realistic idea that soldiers who are also handsome doctors were secretly injected with some sort of DNA McGuffin that turns them into rage-prone beasts whenever they enter suspenseful mood lighting, and that a police officer would find a guy with rage issues who threatens to murder her romantic.
But far be it from us to pre-judge the series for you! Here’s the trailer!
By the way, he actually turns into a beast when he’s “enraged”. That’s in the official plot summary.
