A New ‘Legends Of Tomorrow’ Spot Shows Heroes Destroying The ’70s

Legends Of Tomorrow is making no bones about the fact that it’s a little goofier than either of its sister shows. And, amusingly, it looks like they’re not going to pretend their bad guys suddenly reform in this new TV spot.

The spot is mostly focused on the shenanigans of Captain Cold, Heat Wave, and White Canary, as they get in bar fights, steal things from woefully unprepared ’70s museums, listen to T. Rex, and run into Valentina Vostok, the knife-throwing Russian assassin who doesn’t seem to have become the Negative Woman just yet. We also get to see the interior of Rip Hunter’s ship and how it flies, which seems a bit trivial since it’s a time machine and doesn’t really need to fly, but hey, it’s his money.

While it’s nice to hear some vintage tunes in the trailer, one hopes we don’t see superheroes beating people up to the music that was genuinely popular in the ’70s. While there’s a certain delicious irony in heroes trashing people to the sounds of, say, Billy, Don’t Be A Hero or the score of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, really, that’s not music we should make anybody sit through. Ever. We’ll find out just how far period accuracy goes Jan. 21.
