Does Bryan Singer’s Latest ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Tease Suggest Ancient Aliens?

X-Men: Apocalypse director Bryan Singer sure does enjoy his little game of freak-everybody-the-hell-out-on-the-Internet. Sometimes he posts cool bits of behind-the-scenes work, sometimes he lets slip the name of a new character. But except for a throwaway or two, they’re almost always relevant to the current X-Men film.

Like the above shot of Apocalypse’s (Oscar Isaac) empty chair on the film set, with the simple caption, “Today! #Xmen #apocalypse awakens.” No details. No information. Not even the faintest hint of Isaac himself, whether just arrived or all decked out in character.

Yet there are a few rather interesting things to take note of in the picture. For instance, the walls behind Apocalypse’s chair look like they’ve been made to appear rocky, or stone-like. And what’s with the intricate gold lattice to the left? I’d say it’s just decorative, but it looks somewhat like a bunch of ancient circuit boards — you know, the kind practically anyone interviewed on Ancient Aliens would point out and exclaim, “Look! You see? Ancient astronauts were here! Fox Mulder was right!”

X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters on May 27, 2016. You’ve got plenty of time to prepare for the second coming of your elderly alien overlords, folks.
