Evil’s Back: Shinji Mikami, Creator Of Survival Horror, Returns To The Genre With ‘The Evil Within’

Shinji Mikami, the creator of Resident Evil (and director of most of the best games in the series) left Capcom back in 2004 and has spent the past decade kind of jerking gamers around. Sure, God Hand, Vanquish and Shadows of the Damned were okay games, good even, but they weren’t what the fans wanted. We wanted more survival horror! Another Resident Evil!

Well, at long last it’s happening! Today Mikami and Bethesda (of all companies) announced, The Evil Within. We don’t know too much about the game yet, but it looks like Mikami’s going old school with this project. As in, it may be more akin to the original Resident Evil than Resident Evil 4. Why do I say that? Well, for starters Mikami and Bethesda decided to announce the game with a somewhat cheesy live-action trailer. Hit the jump to check it out…

Man, I know it’s probably hoping for too much, but wouldn’t it be awesome if The Evil Within had live-action cutscenes like the original Playstation Resident Evil? Either way, this horror game fan is already hyped.
