Exclusive Preview: ‘Constantine’ #8

John Constantine is, of course, not a nice man. It’s just that he’s generally up against somebody who’s even worse. And it turns out that the mystics of the New 52 are a lot worse than we thought, as Constantine #8 shows us.

It’s worth noting that a lot of these bad guys used to be good guys. Sargon the Sorcerer (well, Sorceress, here), Mister E, Doctor Occult… they’ve all been heroes at various points in DC continuity. But… well, not this go-round, as we’ll see.

Constantine is, of course, being written by none other than Ray Fawkes, DC’s go-to guy for the occult of late. In addition to relaunching Constantine in the New 52, he’s also writing Pandora and Justice League Dark currently. Still, his take on everybody’s favorite British jerkass of a magician has been an interesting and surprisingly gritty take, especially considering his roots in Vertigo.

The full story will be on stands this week, but for now, here’s a preview of Constantine’s troubles with the dangerous Mister E…
