Consoles, PCs, handhelds, Facebook, smartphones — the world of gaming is becoming increasingly confusing and fragmented, but don’t worry, we’re here to simplify things for you. Each week I’ll rattle off five games I think you might want to check out this week. Keep in mind, these articles aren’t meant to be comprehensive lists of everything coming out that week so much as a nice rounded tasting menu. So, let’s get to it…

Life Goes On (PC, Mac & Linux, Apr. 17th)

Life Goes On takes the “progress through death” ethos of games like Dark Souls to a new more literal level. Basically, the game is a puzzle platformer in which you have to use the corpses created by your failures to progress — impale your knight on a row of spikes, then use that dead knight as a platform to get your next knight across the hazard. I have to say, Life Goes On looks like delightfully morbid fun.

2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil (Xbox 360 & PS3, Apr. 15th)

Is just regular old FIFA 14 not enough soccer gaming for you? Well, EA also has a completely separate game devoted to this year’s World Cup in Brazil! Goooooooal?
