Consoles, PCs, handhelds, Facebook, smartphones — the world of gaming is becoming increasingly confusing and fragmented, but don’t worry, we’re here to simplify things for you. Each week I’ll rattle off five games I think you might want to check out this week. Keep in mind, these articles aren’t meant to be comprehensive lists of everything coming out that week so much as a nice rounded tasting menu. So, let’s get to it…

This Week’s Indie Adventure Game

The Blackwell Epiphany (PC, Apr. 24th)

The Blackwell games are a series of decidedly old-school adventure games starring a medium and her ghost friend solving mysteries. They’re not groundbreaking, but they fill that Monkey Island/Beneath a Steel Sky void. The game isn’t available on Steam yet, but you can download it here.

This Week’s Music-Adventure Mashup

FRACT OSC (PC & Mac, Apr. 22nd)

Well, this one certainly gets the gold star for most unique concept this week. FRACT is an adventure game in which you explore an open world using music. FRACT essentially takes place inside a giant synthesizer, and as you explore and repair the world, you’ll gain the ability to create music in new ways. Looks like mind-bendy fun.
