Paul Reubens Will Reprise His ‘Batman Returns’ Role On ‘Gotham’

Robin Lord Taylor (who plays the Penguin on Gotham) dropped some amusing casting news at the show’s New York Comic Con panel on Sunday. Paul Reubens (also known as Pee-wee Herman) will reprise the role of Penguin’s father on Gotham. He played the same character in 1992’s Batman Returns, which is saying some odd things about the continuity of this bonkers show.

Robin Lord Taylor also posted a family portrait on Twitter to accompany the announcement, not to be confused with the portrait Paul Reubens keeps in his attic so he looks like Pee-wee Herman forever.

Fox also premiered a spoiler-filled Gotham sizzle reel at NYCC, available below. It features another new cast member, Michael Chiklis, who’ll be playing the GCPD’s new boss. The video ends with a clip from tonight’s episode, “Strike Force,” airing at 8/7c on Fox. We’ll probably watch just to see if Jerome does the impossible.

Oh, wait. Wrong video…
