Drax Shows His Softer Side In The New ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Cartoon

Despite having the nickname “The Destroyer,” it turns out that Drax is actually a pretty decent guy, as his origins in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy cartoon reveal. Although you really have to wonder why Ronan thinks staging a gladiatorial competition is a good substitute for an actual job interview. Sure, they can punch people in the face. But can they actually manage resources in the field? Do they know how to mediate disputes between coworkers? Will they fit in with the culture? Supervillains really need to take a few business classes.

Anyway, the basic thrust of this is that Drax is very, very close to ending Ronan for good. But, as we said, he’s a decent guy, so instead he does this:

Awww. Maybe they should call him Drax the Reuniter. If you’re curious, the entire cast of Guardians of the Galaxy are getting little origin movies; we’ve already seen Rocket Raccoon and Groot, and they’ve also put Star-Lord’s out there for public consumption. The only remaining member is, of course, Gamora, and we’re looking forward to seeing both how they adapt the character to animation and how they’ll manage to justify not putting her on any merch.
