Four New Clips From ‘The Hobbit: The Unexpected Journey’ Really Shine Our Goblin

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey opened at midnight (and Dan saw it), so here’s our last chance to post clips from the movie before they start advertising the next two installments. Oh, wait, they’ve already started. Nonetheless, let’s push forward. First, we have a picture of Gandalf meeting the Goblin King (voiced by Barry Humphries).

That is one shiny goblin. (Not a euphemism.)

Next up, we have four videos below. In the first, Gandalf tries to convince Bilbo to go on the journey, regaling him with stories of his great-great-great-great uncle Bandobras “Bullroarer” Took. Gandalf has some interesting theories on how golf was invented.

In the second clip, Thorin Oakenshield and his posse of leprechauns dwarves sing “Over the Misty Mountains Cold”, a song about Smaug the dragon thieving their gold. Did you know there’s singing in this movie? This is the first I’m hearing about it and I’m totally not being sarcastic in the slightest.

In the third clip, the White Council discusses their 400 years of peace while Gandalf tries to convince them that Smaug and an evil “far more powerful” than Smaug are still a threat. The fourth clip is a TV spot showing the “riddles in the dark” scene between Gollum and Bilbo. Time’s up.
