So uh, spoilers ahead. What was up with Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s subplot in The Dark Knight Rises? He just sort of hung around, chatted with Batman, rode a school bus, then whoa wait, we discover his name is Robin and there he is hanging out in the Batcave? What was the point of it all?
Hit the jump for a tasty stew of rumors, speculation and cryptic quotes…
Well, maybe the point was for JGL to play Batman in all the planned crossovers and cameos serious ac-tor Christian Bale wouldn’t be up for. Rumors are swirling that JGL will “absolutely” be appearing as Batman in Warner Bros’ planned Justice League movie and probably be doing a cameo in Man of Steel as well.
Now, Joseph’s reps have refuted the rumor, but they haven’t released any sort of actual statement or direct quote from Joseph. That’s some preeetty weak refuting. “He’s actually in the movies but we can’t legally say yet” kind of refuting.
Regardless, there’s definitely going to be some crossover between Man of Steel and Justice League. When asked if Man of Steel was going to set up Justice League, Zack Snyder said…
“Um, how can I answer that? I can’t really say anything to that, because that’s a big spoiler.”
In other words, “yes”. So if JGL is going to be Batman in Justice League, there’s a very good chance he’ll be somewhere in Man of Steel as well. What do you folks think? Joseph Gordon-Levitt Batman — cheers or jeers? Hey, at the very least this may finally be the thing that gets your girlfriend into Batman.
