Where there are X-Men, there’s Wolverine; the two concepts are inseparable at this point. However, Deadpool, at least so far, has made no mention of the Alpha Flight alumnus making an appearance. Interestingly, though, Hugh Jackman may have dropped an oblique hint, in the form of an Instagram video.
Reynolds, cosplaying as a testicle with teeth, is urging everyone to vote for Jackman as the sexiest man alive in People‘s annual contest:
Now, of course, this could just be Jackman helping Reynolds out with the Deadpool hype machine, which is in full swing ahead of the movie’s February release date. Or maybe Reynolds sent this to Jackman as a goof.
On the other hand, Deadpool is in the middle of reshoots, and Reynolds has been mentioning for years that the script makes fun of the widely, and justly, loathed X-Men Origins: Wolverine for years now. Jackman himself has quietly distanced himself from the disaster, and being that he was the best thing about it… well, yeah.
We’ll see in February, of course, but, personally, I hope they reenact this touching scene from Deadpool’s game. Really, there’s nothing more powerful and emotional between those two, especially if you grew up in the ’90s and were sick of seeing Wolverine on every cover.
