J.J. Abrams Is Set To Take On The World Of Video Games With ‘Spyjinx’

From Lost to Star Wars: The Force Awakens and everything in between, J.J. Abrams has already pretty thoroughly conquered the worlds of television and movies, and now he’s apparently hoping to score the entertainment hat trick with his first video game.

That video game is Sypjinx, an action-strategy game being co-produced by Abrams’ new gaming studio, Bad Robot Interactive, and ChAIR, the developer of Shadow Complex and the well-regarded Infinity Blade series. A website for Spyjinx is already up, and it describes the game, thusly…

Spyjinx is a unique mix of action-strategy gameplay, dynamic world building and RPG character development, all set in a thrilling, treacherous world of espionage.”

It’s unknown what role Abrams played in the creation of Spyjinx (hopefully it wasn’t coming up with the name), but he seems excited about the project, telling IGN:

“I’ve been a fan of video games for years, envious of the artists and storytellers who have gotten to play in that world. Over two years ago, we met with the geniuses at ChAIR in the hopes of collaborating with them. The result has been something beyond any of our expectations. Since then we have been working closely with them to create something that I cannot wait to get into the hands of gamers all over the world.”

Spyjinx sneaks onto PC and mobile devices sometime in 2016.
