CBS’ bid for the ratings superheroes tend to pull, Supergirl, arrives next week amid much fanfare. Among those who will be watching? Presidential candidate Jeb Bush, who let us know his exact feelings about Supergirl in more detail than we wanted.
We could explain it, but, really, it must be experienced:
Well, we guess we know why Jeb will be watching. A few things we want to point out here: One, Melissa Benoist is literally young enough to be Jeb’s daughter, so he more or less just announced he wants to be America’s creepy old uncle. Two, this was in response to a question about which Marvel superhero was his favorite, to which he responded:
I wish I owned Marvel, as somebody who believes in capitalism.
Seriously, what kind of response is that? A presidential candidate should at least have an idea for a Captain America arc.
If you were wondering, his actual favorite superhero is Batman, which at least makes him more aware than Ted Cruz, who seriously told people a homicidal maniac who strangles muggers is one of his favorites. Still, in terms of comic-book literacy, Ted Cruz has at least proven he’s read some of them. We’re still waiting for reports on whether Bernie Sanders supports Canada’s ongoing research into adamantium and what Hillary knows about the Bloodshot program.
