Developers Release Source Code For ‘Star Wars’ Games After LucasArts’ Closure

Yesterday Disney announced they were shutting down LucasArts, meaning development of both Star Wars: First Assault and Star Wars 1313 was cancelled and over 150 people were fired. Raven Software, who developed Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy for LucasArts, published a goodbye tribute to LucasArts at Kotaku Australia. In addition to wishing the fired employees the best, Raven also released the source code to Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy.

Modders have been trying to get these goodies for years. If only there were better circumstances leading to the release. For now, the Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast source code is available here and the Jedi Academy source code is available here. There’s no documentation or support, of course, nor are the models, music, et cetera included. That just means modders will have to make due by adding horses to it.
