New Rumor Suggests Matt Murdock Will ‘Definitely’ Show Up In ‘Jessica Jones’

With just under a month to go before Jessica Jones premieres on Netflix, Marvel’s next gritty streaming television series may have added yet another cast member. At least, that’s according to Jon Schnepp over at Collider, who claims that the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen himself will pop up in some form or fashion.

Per Cinema Blend, Schnepp says Murdock (Charlie Cox) will “definitely” be somewhere in the crowds of people Jessica (Krysten Ritter) powers her way through:

You’re definitely going to see Matt Murdock in Jessica Jones. That’s a fact. He’s in it. I don’t know how they interact, but he’s in the series.

On the one hand, this should come as no surprise to anyone who’s been following the Marvel-Netflix collaboration since it was first announced in 2013. In addition to Daredevil, Marvel would produce and Netflix would distribute Jessica JonesLuke Cage and Iron Fist series, which would all culminate in a Defenders miniseries.

On the other hand, Schnepp’s bit of “news” doesn’t really give away anything specific. He simply affirms that Murdock (and not the costume vigilante, per se) will appear in Jessica Jones. If anything, the comment restates what Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s head of television said back in July:

Without giving anything away, they’re in the same area. In some cases they are in the same neighborhood. One of the things that is important to us is, when you enter the police station, it’s the same police station. When you go to the hospital, you start to see the same people.

Funny that Loeb mentioned seeing the “same people” at “the hospital,” as Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson) was confirmed back in September for appearances in both Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. Even so, whether or not Murdock shows up is still left to rumor and hearsay — though a lot of the rumors are saying “yes.”

Jessica Jones premieres at 12:01 a.m. PT on Friday, Nov. 20 on Netflix. As with Daredevil, all thirteen episodes will be available for streaming, which means a lot of people are going to call in sick.
