This Supercut Of Every ‘Jurassic Park’ Homage In ‘Jurassic World’ Is A Dino-Sized Nostalgia Bomb

As you may have heard, Jurassic World has done pretty well for itself this year. It’s the third-highest grossing movie of all time, the fastest to bring a billion at the box office, and now it’s out on video and breaking records there too, roaring past Furious 7 to become the best-selling Blu-ray of all time.

So, what’s the secret of Jurassic World’s success? Y’know, aside from it ending with a super awesome T-Rex vs. Indominus Rex therapod throwdown? Nostalgia! Sure, Jurassic World was at least nominally an original story, but it was packed front-to-back with references to the original Jurassic Park and its sequels (well, maybe not so much Jurassic Park III).

How many of the homages and nods to the original trilogy did you catch? Probably a smaller percentage than you thought. The above supercut runs through all the homages, helpfully placing them side-by-side with the scenes from the original movies. My favorite bit is definitely the comparison between the behind-the-legs shot of Chris Pratt running from the Indominus Rex in the paddock and Timmy running from the raptors in the kitchen in the original movie. That one went straight over my head, but it’s great. Which are your favorites?
